Cherry Creek Imaging

Ultrasound, also known as Sonography, is a safe, painless diagnostic exam which uses high-frequency sound waves to obtain images.  The main benefit of ultrasound is its ability to capture images in real-time without being invasive or using radiation.  Ultrasound imaging can show the structure and movement of the body’s internal organs, blood flow through arteries and veins.  Ultrasound is also used at Cherry Creek Imaging for image-guided procedures such as biopsies, aspirations and drainages of the thyroid, lymph nodes, and abdominal masses.

Arrive for your ultrasound wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.  Depending upon the type of ultrasound exam your physician has ordered, you may be asked to not eat or drink for up to 12 hours before your appointment, or you may be asked to drink up to 6 glasses of water 2 hours prior to your exam and to avoid urinating.  This will ensure a full bladder when the exam begins.  Most ultrasound examinations are conducted within 30-45 minutes.
