Fluoroscopy

Digital fluoroscopy is a form of x-ray that allows us to view various parts of the body in real time. This type of imaging uses a special piece of equipment called a fluoroscope which allows the radiologist to see a very detailed image of an internal organ or structure while it is functioning or what is called “real-time” viewing.

A contrast agent may be used during a procedure which allows the image to be viewed on a monitor or screen.  In procedures such as Arthrograms and Myelograms, contrast is injected by the radiologist to confirm needle placement which eliminates “guessing” or a blind needle placement as the contrast confirms the needle has been placed in the intended area or joint space.
